The Bureau of Atomic Tourism

Planning your next vacation? Perhaps you'd like to visit the Trinity nuclear test site in New Mexico, which is open two days a year (once in the fall and once in the spring), has food concessions and a portable-toilet facilities, and is on the northern edge of the White Sands Missile Range. Oh, yeah -- be careful about Trinitite, a glassy green compound that "is still radioactive and must not be picked up," according to the Bureau. That's only one of the destinations listed on this page, which also provides helpful tourist tips about such hot spots as the Los Alamos County Historical Museum and Hiroshima. The information seems genuine, but it's the website's deadpan activism that'll make you laugh in disbelief -- and then start thinking. Grade: A
